Calor Village of the Year 2011 ® Calling all communities large and small!

Calor - Village of the Year 2011

The Calor Village of the Year® competition, a celebration of all that is good about Northern Ireland, has always attracted an impressive array of entries from across Northern Ireland.

This year looks set to be bigger and better than ever!  We are delighted to announce a change to the overall village prize which will result in two overall winners:  Calor Village of the Year® Small Community and Calor Village of the Year® Large Community. Winners of these prestigious awards will win a fantastic cash prize of £3,500!

The aim of the competition is to recognise the contribution local people make in the development of their communities.  There are five categories which your village or community can be judged on – Building Community Life, Business, Young People, Older People and Environment.

The Calor Village of the Year® Small Community award is open to any village or rural community with a population of 1,000 or less.  The Calor Village of the Year® Large Community award is open to any village or rural community with a population between 1,001 and 4,500.  To be eligible for consideration for the overall title your community must enter a minimum of three categories and the judging panel will assess your entry on your three strongest categories.

An individual cash prize of £1,000 is awarded to each individual category winner.  You don’t need to be great in all of them, having a go is enough!  We will also be on the lookout for ‘Best Improved Villages’ who have entered in previous years as well as ‘Inspiring People’ throughout the judging process.
