Halberton, Devon, has won the Business category for the West England region of the 2008 Calor Village of the Year® award.

The Devon village of Halberton is situated to the east of Tiverton and has a population of approximately 1,000.

A proud village, Halberton’s vibrant community is committed to the welfare of residents and works hard to ensure that everyone is well cared for.

A wide range of facilities and activities are available to suit all interests and tastes. Furthermore, if there is something that is desired but not available, the community strives to address the need.

For young residents, community life in Halberton starts from birth with the Parent and Baby/Toddler Group and then continues with attendance at the village’s pre-school and primary school.

A weekly youth club provides a safe environment for the children to play, including activities such as arts and crafts, cooking and a host of other interesting pursuits.

A recently refurbished village hall provides an excellent facility and is well used by all residents. A luncheon club run by the hall trustees regularly attracts 40 to 50 attendees and encourages members to get involved in new activities and join new groups.

Halberton is particularly successful in terms of its business community, which is thriving and well used by residents and visitors alike. The fact that local businesses can have a presence on the village website free of charge is obviously a massive benefit.
