A Guide for the Village with Ambition
PLEASE NOTE: To be able to enter the Calor Village of the Year® for England competition, villages first need to compete in their local county competition. County competitions are arranged by local competition organisers and should be contacted regarding entry. See our contacts page for details of your nearest organiser. |
Naturally, many villages will want to set their sights beyond their own county competition - they’ll be aiming to win the chance to compete in the 2009 English Calor Village of the Year® competition. If this sounds like your village, this page tells you what is involved at the next level.
Experienced and enthusiastic competition organisers will welcome your enquiry, giving you plenty of help and advice. They can tell you more about how villages are selected to represent the county and what your chances of winning the nomination might be.

The visit of the judges caused quite a buzz in the village and allowed us to show off everything we do. Every club and organisation, and many of the local businesses were represented at the meeting with the judges. The information that everyone provided for the display allowed their story to be told. We tried to convey the fact that there were more than 40 organisations at work.
