The waiting is over! The overall winner of the 2006/07 Calor Village of the Year® for England competition has been announced at a special awards ceremony at Skinner's Hall.
We can officially reveal that the winner is...
Our congratulations go to the villagers of Allendale - who will be celebrating not only the fact that they live in England's best community, but also a prize of £7,000. On top of this, the village receives £2,000 as category winner for the North of England.
Congratulations, too, to beaten finalists Filkins and Broughton Poggs, Henlow, Bromham and Geddington - who have each earned £2,000 by winning their respective regional competitions.
Oxfordshire village Filkins and Broughton Poggs has also been named as the overall winner of the Building Community Life category, for which the village wins an additional £2,000.
The overall winner of the ICT (Information Communication Technology) Award has been announced as Rayne, Essex.
