If the answer is yes to any of these, then your community should enter the new Scottish Calor Village of the Year® competition, which has been launched by Calor to provide Scottish rural communities with the opportunity to gain recognition and reward for their achievements.
The Scottish Calor Village of the Year® competition is open to all villages and small towns in Scotland with a population of 5,000 or under. The awards are supported by the ASCC (Association of Scottish Community Councils) and Rural Gateway.
There are four regional competitions, North Scotland, Central Scotland, Southern Scotland and the Scottish Islands – please click here to find out how these are defined. Each regional winner will receive a cash prize of £1,000 and the overall winner of Scottish Calor Village of the Year® 2008 will receive an additional £3,000.

Registering your village
From the 1st March you can enter your village into the competition online (register by clicking here) You will be given a user name and password and can develop your entry over time, saving it as you go along. Final entry submissions must be made by the closing date of May 31st, 2008.
